Having been elected to the Assembly for first-time from newly carved Shimla (Rural) constituency,Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Thursday announced that the area will be developed as a ‘Model Assembly’ constituency.
While admitting that the area had remained neglected for quite a long time,Virbhadra said the constituency will see the creation of basic infrastructure and amenities for the people.
He added that the government was making efforts to provide best health,education and road facilities to the farthest corners of the state and he himself had been extensively touring the state to know the problems of the people.
Launching a series of projects in the area during his day-long tour,Virbhadra laid the foundation stones of developmental works in the constituency. “Two major irrigation schemes and three ITIs are coming up here. A PWD division has also opened here to accelerate the pace of developmental works,including upgradation and maintenance of roads,” he said.
Virbhadra added: “A home for children in conflict with the law will be constructed at Hiranagar at a cost of Rs 2.4 crore. This will be the second observation home for such children after the one in Una district.” He also laid the foundation stone of the home for mentally retarded children in Hiranagar,worth Rs 5.24 crore.
