Worker dead as industrial shed of firm collapses at Bhosari MIDC in Pune

A 32-year-old worker died after an old industrial shed collapsed at a construction site near Modern Metal Services in Bhosari MIDC on Saturday evening.

Fire teams rescued another injured worker, and police have launched a probe into the incident.

A 32-year-old worker was killed when an old industrial shed collapsed at a Bhosari MIDC construction site.

An old industrial shed of a private company in Bhosari MIDC collapsed, causing the death of a worker on Saturday evening.

Police have identified the deceased worker as Maruti Bhalerao (32). A team of Bhosari MIDC police station has launched an investigation into this incident.

According to Pimpri Chinchwad fire brigade, the deceased Bhalerao was working at a private company’s construction site adjacent to the Modern Metal Services firm at the J Block in Bhosari MIDC.

Fire officials said that around 4.45 pm, the old industrial shed of the Modern Metal Services firm collapsed at the construction site. After receiving information about the incident, the teams of Nehru Nagar, Pimpri and Bhosari fire stations rushed to the spot.

The rubble was cleared using a backhoe loader, suspecting that some workers were buried under it. “One worker was found injured under the rubble during the rescue operation. He was rushed to hospital,” said Vikas Todarmal, fire officer, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.

Senior police inspector Ganesh Jamdar of Bhosari MIDC police station said, “The worker Bhalerao was pronounced dead at the hospital. As per the legal procedure, an accidental death report has been filed and further investigation is on.”
