A woman stabbed her six-year-old son in the stomach and tried to kill herself by slashing her veins Tuesday morning in Vikasnagar area on Dehu Road.
Dehu Road police said the husband of the woman had been living with his family for the past few days because of some family problems. On Tuesday morning,when the husband called the woman,she told him that she had killed their son and was going to commit suicide.
Senior inspector Ram Jadhav said,“The incident came to light after the husband sent his friend to the house. When they managed to open the door with the help of some neighbours,they saw mother and son lying in a pool of blood. The boy had severe injuries on his stomach and the woman had cuts on her wrist. They were immediately shifted to a private hospital. The woman is now stable,but the condition of the boy is critical.”
Jadhav added,“The husband is a carpenter and the family is going through financial problems. His mobile phone has been switched off since morning. We are trying to trace him.”
