A 54-YEAR-OLD woman was killed and her two grandchildren, aged four and six years, were injured after the trio were hit by a bike when they were crossing a road in Chinchwad. Police have booked a 52-year-old computer engineer who was riding the bike.
Police have identified the deceased as Khilona Devnand Kale (54), a resident of Shekharnagar area of Chinchwad. Her two grandchildren Amit Tayket (6) and Arpita Tayket (4) were injured in the accident. A First Information Report in the case was registered by Nikesh Kale (25), the son of the deceased who is a toy seller. Amit and Arpita are children of Nikesh’s sister.
The accident took place in front of Bird Valley Park in Chinchwad around 7.30 pm December 16. The grandmother and two grandkids were walking and were on their way home after some work.
“While they were crossing the road, two hit them. The biker identified as Padmanabhan Aiyer, 52, who was riding the bike took the injured to a nearby hospital. The woman was pronounced dead by the doctors at the hospital. The two children are out of danger and their injuries are minor.” said an officer from Nigdi police station.
