A 34-year-old doctor was killed after a speeding truck knocked down the two-wheeler she was driving on the Katraj Handewadi Road in Pune Wednesday afternoon.
The Pune police have identified the deceased as Dr Pranali Tanmay Date, a resident of Undri. The police said they arrested the truck driver Pandurang Bhosale, 35, from Dharashiv.
According to the police, Dr Date operated her clinic in the Undri area, and was going towards Handewadi on her two-wheeler when the truck knocked down her vehicle from the rear side at around 12 noon. After receiving information, a Pune City police team rushed to the spot. The victim was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
A First Information Report (FIR) was lodged in the Kalepadal Police Station, and the case is being investigated by Anil Nimbalkar, Sub-inspector.
The police said Dr Date is survived by her husband, also a doctor, and their son.
