Woman dies in accident on old Mumbai-Pune highway

An accident on the old Mumbai-Pune highway killed a 25-year-old woman and injured her friend on Sunday afternoon.

The two-wheeler they were on collided with a state transport bus near Somatane Phata.

“When they were crossing Ladkat Petrol Pump near Somatane Phata, the man – who was driving – lost control over the bike. The bike crossed the road divider and collided with a state transport bus which was coming from the opposite side,” said a policeman. “The girl died on the spot and the man was injured. He has been admitted to a private hospital in Talegaon Dabhade,” he added.

According to the Talegaon Dabhade police, the deceased woman, Pranali Prakash Parad, and her friend, Sagar Hanumant Katkar, both residents of Mumbai, were on their way to Pune from Mumbai. The police said that both of them were working professionals.
