A 54-year-old employee of the district and sessions court in Shivajinagar was attacked with knives at her residence in Kothrud by two youths,who allegedly tried to snatch her gold bracelet. Kothrud police said the victim suffered injuries on the leg and hands.
Police said Madhura Mohan Kavthekar,who works at the registrar office,was alone at her residence when two suspects knocked at the door around 9 am. As she opened the door,the duo gagged her and tried to snatch her bracelet. When she raised an alarm,they attacked her and fled. Assistant police inspector Wanjale said,One of the suspects has been identified as Sachina. He is nephew of a person named Gorakh who works at victims farm in Rasalwadi in Mulshi Tehsil. We have not yet identified his accomplice.
Kavthekar was rushed to a hospital by her husband and is said to be out of danger now,they said. Police said she has received few stitches on legs. We will soon nab the suspects. We have come to know that the two had visited her the previous night and sought information on jobs at the court. On Thursday,they again visited and attacked her, said Wanjale.
