With no clue in hand,cops seek witness’s help

The deceased had caught the suspect and the woman in a compromising position under a tree in the varsity.

Two days after the alleged murder of a security superviser on the University premises,police who were seen fumbling for clues have urged people,especially the woman who accompanied the suspect at the time of shooting,to come forward with information.

The deceased had caught the suspect and the woman in a compromising position under a tree in the varsity.

Pralhad Jogdandkar (54) was shot at twice by the suspect following an argument between them after the latter demanded some money. Another security superviser Babasaheb Nikalje,who accompanied Jogdandkar,had reported the matter to the police.

Chatuhshrungi police along with Pune crime branch is investigating the case. Rajesh Bansode,deputy commissioner of police (Crime),said,“We urge people to come forward with whatever information they have. We also urge the woman to come forward and tell us about the incident. We ensure her identity will not be revealed.”

The incident took place around 7.45 pm on Thursday near the Geography department.

Nikalje said that Jogdandkar had asked the man to pay a fine of Rs 5,000. The man had said he had only Rs 500. Later,the suspect came back and asked Rs 100 for petrol.”

Senior inspector Ajay Kadam of Chatuhshrungi police said,“Our teams are working on different clues. As of now,we do not have any substantial lead. We are investigating in all possible angles.”
