Will address your issues after election: Pawar to lawyers

While praising the politicians with sound legal knowledge for their contribution in framing policies at the national level.

While praising the politicians with sound legal knowledge for their contribution in framing policies at the national level,Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar on Sunday promised the lawyers in Maharashtra to address their issues and problems through regular meetings, once the elections are over.

The minister inaugurated a convention of lawyers in Maharashtra held at Nisarga Mangal Karyalay in Marketyard, jointly organised by the legal cell of NCP,Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa and Pune Bar Association. Other NCP leaders including MP Supriya Sule, state unit chief Madhukar Pichad and others were present on the occasion.

“In Parliament,we have a number of politicians, who have a sound knowledge of law such as P Chidambaram,Arun Jaitley and Abhishekh Manu Singhvi. We make it a point to listen to the speeches by such members,as their thought presentation and analysis of various issues is worth giving attention. Their thoughts help in formulating policies. Therefore, people with expertise in law should be brought forward,” Pawar said.

Responding to the memorandum of demands,he said,“Though the problems that you face are grave,I cannot promise you anything as the model code of conduct is in place. However, after the election, regular meetings with the union law minister can be held to address the issues. Similarly, similar meetings can also be held at the state level, with the chief minister as well as the law minister,” he said.

Pointing out why women lawyers were not encouraged to put up demands,he said,“Gender issues are always discussed. However,it is not good if the lawyers forget that. I have seen women judges giving judgment in high courts as well as in SC.” He also called for simplification of legal language for the common people.

Sule said,“It is said that justice delayed is justice denied. Today, everybody approaches the court, with a doubt in mind that whether he would get justice in time. Therefore,it is necessary to establish fast-track courts.”

Advocates Jayant Jaybhave,Bhagwanrao Salunkhe,Audumbar Khune Patil,Satish Deshmukh and Milind Pawar were also present on the occasion.
