Ranas Big Leap
The film may have failed at the box-office but Rana Daggubatis debut in Dum Maaro Dum has surely helped him gain a foothold in Bollywood.
After shooting for Ram Gopal Varmas Department with Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt, the actor has signed on Aditya Bhattacharyas next. The filmmaker, who made his debut with the critically-acclaimed Raakh that had Aamir Khan in the lead role, will soon start shooting an English movie. A Momentary Lapse of Reason is a film that uses mafia and the underbelly of Los Angeles as the setting. It is being produced by Asif Noor,Bhattacharya and Sunita Tati under the banner of Hyderabad-based Guru Films and is likely to have an international release. Rana perfectly fits the role as the scion of a wealthy Hyderabad industrialist with real-estate ambitions in Los Angeles, who gets brutally sucked into that citys underbelly, setting off a chain of events that sucks him into a vortex of violence. That is till he finds an unlikely ally and mentor in an over-the-hill cop,and the game changes, says Bhattacharya.
To commemorate the 100th anniversary of Titanics ill-fated maiden voyage,Discovery Channel will air two special programmes,Inside the Titanic and Titanic: The Aftermath, recreating the events using first-hand stories of the survivors. Exploring how the sea water made its way and what happened after 1,500 people were left unaccounted for, including the voyage of the ship sent to recover lost passengers, the programmes bring new insight into the story. The show also takes help of the entirely new forensic system that had to be established to identify the dead, the rarely-seen photos taken to aid that identification process, and the impact that echoes through the generations of the victims. The two-part special will premiere on Discovery Channel on April 14 and 15 at 8 pm.
