“Do you want a man who works for the masses or a man known as the TDR king of Pimpri-Chinchwad who would usurp your land to represent you?” asked Shiv Sena working president Uddhav Thackeray. He was referring to NCP rebel Laxman Jagtap who is contesting against Sena candidate Appa alias Shrirang Barne from Chinchwad assembly constituency.
Speaking at a rally in Thergaon,Chinchwad,on Saturday evening,Uddhav said the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) was one of the richest in Asia some years ago. But after coming under NCP rule,PCMC is now in debt. Under Sena rule,Mumbai civic body has transformed from a debt-ridden civic body to one having surplus reserves.
“If Shiv Sena-BJP government comes to power,we will open a bank account in the name of every girl child soon after she is born and deposit some amount in her name. By the time the girl turns 18,she will have Rs 1 lakh in her account,” said Uddhav.
He said,”When people who rule the state start thinking high of themselves and neglect the needs of the common man, people should teach them a lesson with their power to vote somebody out. All the problems of the people of Maharashtra power and water crisis will be solved if they elect the Sena-BJP. People should not fall prey to the freebies and gifts handed out to them by the Congress-NCP candidates before the election.”
Taking a dig at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi,he said,”They might make farfetched promises. They might even talk of getting water for Maharashtra from the moon. But the voters should not be fooled by such promises; they should get rid of ‘goondaraj’ prevalent under the incumbent government,” said Uddhav.
