Sit Wadgaon defeated MCOE 3-0 thanks to a brace from Vidit Tiwari in the Unify Cultural Fest football tournament organised by SICSR and held at the Station Workshop football ground,Khadki,on Monday.
SIT dominated the entire match and gave no chance to their opposition to get back in the game. Vidit Tiwari opened the scoring for his team after scoring a free kick. He struck the shot on target, the keeper fumbled the ball and it rolled in the net. Tiwari scored his second of the game soon after. He found himself one on one with the keeper, cut past him and slotted the ball into the net to give his team a comfortable two-goal lead. SIT were cruising at this stage and had the game wrapped up. Kartik Prasad added the icing on the cake after scoring his teams third goal. Again it was Tiwaris turn. This time his long ball from behind the half-line found an unmarked Kartik who delightfully chipped the ball over the keeper into the goal. Soon, the referee blew his whistle and the match ended 3-0.
In another match,MITSOM registered a surprising 2-0 victory over Ness Wadia. Saswat Bajracharya scored two goals to ensure his teams victory. The Wadians ended the half trailing by a goal to nil. The second half saw the Ness Wadia team becoming much stronger with the arrival of university level players like Shree Jagtap and Viren DSouza. But even they could not get past the stubborn MITSOM defence. The match ended 2-0.
