The Pune Chapter of FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) had organised a monologue titled ‘An Intense Piece on Truths about Womanhood’ by actor Kalki Koechlin on Tuesday at Trinity Motors Showroom in Kalyaninagar.

“Five husbands…That can’t be fun. God knows. In fact everybody knows. I have trouble with one,” said Koechlin in her monologue which gives her perspective on problems faced by Indian women.

In her monologue, she spoke about everything the society and men want a woman to be and why she should be apart from it. “Sometimes, I just want an oversized t-shirt, boxer shorts and unkempt hair. I want a clean face without a trace of make-up and I want to look the way I do when I wake up. I want to scratch my head, dig my nose, lick my fingers, stretch my legs and spread my toes. I want to smile with my gums showing, bare my teeth and contort my pretty face into wrinkles,” Koechlin said.

“We keep talking about educating the girl child, but educating boys is equally important to spread women empowerment. It is not a war of female against male, it is about equal rights and equal wages. It is about breaking the stereotypes and allowing girls to opt for science and letting them play football. We are living in an animal world and men are the predators here, where you have to bear your tiger teeth and learn to say ‘no’ when required,” the actor added.
