Seizures point to thriving drug business in Maharashtra, Home minister Fadnavis accountable: Supriya Sule

Supriya Sule said that BJP leaders take different stands at the state level and national level. There is no uniformity on the matter of reservation, because of which reservation for Marathas, Dhangars, Lingayats, and Muslims has been delayed.

NCP working president Supriya Sule on Monday sought a response from state Home Minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis over the increase in crime, including the recent incidents of drug seizures, which point to a thriving drug manufacturing and trade in the state.

“Fadnavis who is the Home minister of state needs to speak up. I am seeking a reply, not only as a mother, but an elected representative and a citizen. What does he have to say about the rampant drug business in the state?” Sule said.

The NCP working president said it was a complete failure on the part of the Home Ministry to keep a check on the increasing crimes in the state. “What is the triple engine government in the state doing? There is complete political paralysis of the government. The increase in the number of crimes as per government data is of grave concern,” she said, adding that the ongoing incidents of drug seizures has brought a bad name to the state.

Sule also took on the BJP for playing with feelings of citizens over the reservation issue. “The state BJP leaders have fooled citizens on the reservation issue. Their government, despite having a full majority in state and Centre, has not been able to take a firm decision on reservation. This has disappointed people. Three Maratha youths and one from the Dhangar community have died by suicide over the issue, in just the the last fortnight. On one hand, BJP has stalled the recruitment process of government jobs while actually reducing the number of government jobs. On the other hand, BJP has been busy with mere paper work on reservation,” she said.

Sule also said that BJP leaders take different stands at the state level and national level. There is no uniformity on the matter of reservation, because of which reservation for Marathas, Dhangars, Lingayats, and Muslims has been delayed. “NCP raised the issue repeatedly in Parliament. In the past, BJP MPs from a few states, ahead of Assembly elections, made the Union government approve the legislation for providing reservation for various communities in their state, but BJP parliamentarians from the state failed to do the same as they have double standards. We have been long demanding for the Bill to be approved, but the government is ignoring it. The government should call a special session for passing the reservation Bill for all communities, which we will support,” Sule said
