Four persons,including three historysheeters,were arrested in two cases of alleged rape on Sunday.
In the first case,Haveli police arrested three criminals,Mohammad Razzak Shaikh (21),Rajendra Sambhaji Kamthe (22) and Sumit Mahadeo Jagtap (23),all from Kondhwa Budruk,for allegedly raping a 21-year-old girl behind VIT College in Kondhwa Budruk.
One of the suspects Irfan Jallaudin Shaikh is absconding. The trio were produced before a magistrate court on Monday and were remanded in police custody till September 28.
The victim,along with her brother,was going to the market around 11pm when the accused stopped them.
They were armed with weapons and threatened to kill us. They held my brother and forcefully took me behind the coffee house of VIT College. They raped me the entire night and threatened to kill me if I complained to anyone, she said in her complaint.
Sub-Inspector G M Ghadge,who is investigating the case,said,There are 16 cases of theft and robbery against Kamthe,eight cases against Shaikh and two cases against Jagtap. The accused have been arrested under the Sections 376 (2) (g) (gang rape),342 (wrongful confinement) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
In the second case,the Bharati Vidyapeeth police arrested Kallappa Haku alias Tukaram Chavan (60) from Katraj for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl. He was produced before a magistrate court on Monday and was remanded in police custody till September 27.
According to the police,Chavan visited girls house on Saturday around 10pm when she was alone. He offered her Rs 200 to accompany him. When she refused,he forced her outside her house and raped her, said police sub-inspector Dwarka Dokhe. The girls parents and relatives were out till late night when the incident took place.
