Boxers from the Pune-based Army Sports Institute (ASI) have delivered a powerful punch at the recently concluded World Boxing Cup 2025, with all nine boxers who participated in the event finishing on the podium and three of them clinching gold medals.

“The ASI delivered an exceptional performance at the World Boxing Cup 2025 held in New Delhi from November 14 to 20, reaffirming its position as a premier centre for elite sporting excellence. All nine ASI boxers who participated in the competition finished on the podium, registering an extraordinary hundred per cent medal-conversion rate. The contingent secured a total of three gold, four silver and two bronze medals, bringing immense pride to the Indian Army and the nation,” said a press statement from the Army.

“The gold medals were secured by Havildar Arundhati in the 70-kilogram category, Naib Subedar Jaismine in the 57-kilogram category, and Havildar Sachin in the 60-kilogram category. The silver and bronze medallists too displayed exemplary discipline, unwavering fighting spirit, and a strong commitment to excellence for achieving a clean sweep of the medal tally,” the statement read.

The Army further said in the statement that the ASI’s remarkable medal sweep was a testament to its “world-class” training ecosystem, scientific athlete management, and the dedicated efforts of its coaches, support staff, and soldiers. The Army congratulated all medal winners and reiterated its commitment to “nurturing world-class athletes who bring honour to the nation on global sporting platforms”.

The ASI was established in July 2001 as a premier sports training establishment under the Army’s Mission Olympics programme to tap a vast talent pool of sportspeople serving in the force. The institute conducts training in archery, athletics, boxing, diving, wrestling, fencing, and weightlifting, and has produced medal winners at several international events.

In January 2006, the ASI started a Boys’ Sports Company programme under Mission Olympics to spot talent at a very young age. Boys in the 8-14 age group are selected through an open process for applicants across India. An attached CBSE school simultaneously helps students complete their studies.
In February 2023, the Army headquarters approved a proposal to establish an Army Girls Sports Company, and the admissions for it started in March 2024.
