The Global Pulotsav this year featured the Bha D Pa Che Valli, also known as the One Man Show, P L Deshpande’s speciality, on November 9. The Pulotsav, the birth centenary celebration of Marathi author, on-screen character composer P L Deshpande, popularly known by his initials Pu La, is underway at Balgandharva Rangmandir.
The celebration, which has been held every year for the past 16 years, includes short movies, poetry reading, plays and other social events. Since this year marks the 100th birth anniversary of Deshpande, there are plans to expand Pulotsav to 25 cities in India and 30 cities across four counties.
The program is free-of-cost, with seats being distributed on the first-come-first-serve basis. This year’s topic is humour, across literature, drama, films and cartoons.
The organisers have begun a new campaign this year for the youth called ‘I Love P L’, in which year-long exercises have been planned in colleges and schools.
