Tejwani, suspended tehsildar Yewale questioned together about Mundhwa land deal

The FIR at Khadak police station, which was later transferred to EOW, mentions the names of a total nine accused. Six have been named in connection with the offence related to land parcel of Survey Number 62 in Bopodi of area 5 hectares and 35 acres. While two more, Tejwani and Parth Pawar’s partner Digvijay Patil, were named in connection with Survey Number 88 in Mundhwa of area of 17 hectares and 51 ares. The ninth suspect, suspended tehsildar Yewale, has been named in connection with both the cases as the wrongful orders for both cases have been issued by Yewale.

Yewale has secured ad-interim anticipatory bail in the case while Tejwani is currently in police custody till Thursday.

An officer who was part of the probe said that Tejwani and Yewale were jointly questioned on Wednesday and they were grilled about the transactions of the deal and the possible links between them, officials said.

After Tejwani’s arrest on December 3, Pune police have told the court that they are probing whether Tejwani accepted Rs 300 crore amount of the deal and in what way. Police have also told the court that the original 272 watandars–holders of Mahar Watan land–had not received any money from the transaction of the controversial deal. Police have said that in spite of the land being in the possession of the government, Tejwani tried to show that it was still a Mahar Watan and had then executed the sale of the land. Police have also said that the sale deed mentions that the ready reckoner value of the land is Rs 300 crore. However, it is likely that the market value of the land is four to five times the ready reckoner value.

Pune police have also said that on December 1 they questioned Digvijay Patil, partner of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s son Parth in the Amadea Enterprises LLP, which is at the centre of the controversial land deal. Patil will be questioned again soon as part of the probe into the case.
