A student from the Symbiosis Institute of Mass Communication (Under Graduate) allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his hostel room at Vimannagar on Thursday afternoon. The reason behind him taking the extreme step could not be ascertained.
Vimannagar police identified the deceased boy as Rishik Sharad (19) from Hyderabad. He was in the first year of Bachelor of Communication Studies. Police said that his classes had started about six months ago.
Senior inspector Prakash Shah said,The incident came to light around 4 pm when his roommate returned from college and found the door locked. He then informed the college authorities,who called us. We have not found any suicide note. We are investigating into the case.
Anupam Siddhartha,the director of the institute,told Newsline,As soon the incident was reported to us,we rushed Rishik to a hospital. However,he was declared dead on arrival. We have informed his parents. His fathers elder brother stays in Pune. The hostel is run by the institutes parent organisation.
Siddhartha added,As of now,we do not have any idea why he committed suicide. We are talking to students,his friends and classmates about it.
Girl falls from school building,injured
A 14-year-old girl was injured after she reportedly fell from the first floor of the school building in Camp on Thursday. Bundgarden police said incident took place around 11 am,when the girls father had come to school. A teacher said,We heard a thud and rushed to the spot. We found the girl,lying injured. Ukhaji Sonavane,senior inspector,said,The father of the girl said it was an accident. No complaint has been registered yet.
