A week after Tanisha Bhise gave birth to twin girls, each weighing 600 and 1 kg each, doctors at Pune’s Surya Mother and Child Superspeciality Hospital said that they were stable. “Their feed intake has increased and both are on Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP),” Dr Sachin Shah, Director, Neonatal and Paediatric Intensive Care Services, at the Surya Hospitals Wakad said.

Tanisha, who was in her thirties, delivered the twins at Surya Hospitals in Wakad on March 29, and died at Manipal Hospital, Baner, two days later. Her family and Bharatiya Janata Party MLC Amit Gorkhe have alleged that Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital authorities refused to admit Tanisha due to nonpayment of a Rs 10 lakh advance deposit. Tanisha’s husband, Sushant, works as Gorkhe’s secretary.
