Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shrikar Pardeshi Saturday said taking right decisions at the right time and smart work were important for cracking the tough competitive examinations.
Pardeshi was speaking to the students preparing for state and central competitive examinations at the Swa-roopwardhinee competitive examination centre in Mangalwar Peth.
The centre provides free guidance, library and study room facilities to 40 students every year, who are selected through written test and interviews as a part of a scholarship scheme.
Pardeshi shared his success story in the UPSC exam and also his experiences at work after joining the IAS.
I could not clear even the prelims of the UPSC exams in the first two attempts. But later I took some decisions at the right time, changed my subjects and maintained a proper time schedule.
I was surprised to know I ranked 10th in the country in my third attempt, he said.
Replying to question asked by a student about his most memorable incident while working as PCMC chief,Pardeshi said: Every day is memorable… I did get nervous after the first threat I received. But I soon managed to take over it. I still have police protection. I got more threats later. But it could not stop me from doing the right things.
