Pune-based Rutuja Rajendra Junnarkar, currently gaining rave reviews from the audience as well as the judges of the reality show India’s Dancing Superstar, started grooving when she was in the first grade. “My mom wanted my sister to perform at a function in her office, but the day before that,my sister grew cold feet. I gladly filled in. After the event, everyone told my parents to get me trained. There has been no looking back since then,” says the 18-year-old,who is one of the top 12 contestants of the show.

She has learnt both contemporary and Bollywood style and is currently doing her Bachelors in Bharatanatyam along with a Bachelors in Computer Science from Fergusson College. “It’s difficult because I have a hectic schedule and it gets exhausting to finish any of my assignments on time, but fortunately my friends have my back,” says Junnarkar, who is among the top 12 contestants on the reality show right now.

Winning the local competition called “Dam Dama Dam” and reaching the top-10 in Dance Maharashtra Dance,Junnarkar says she had no inclination to audition for India’s Dancing Superstar.

“But my friends forced me to give it a shot. I auditioned in Mumbai since I missed the round in Pune,” she says.

When she’s not dancing or brushing up on books,Junnarkar loves relaxing and hanging out with friends. “There is nothing better than spending an entire day in bed or watching movies,,” she adds.
