Medical reports have confirmed that the death of a 25-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman on Monday was caused by hanging in what appeared to be suicide pact at the house of the young man in Jay Ganesh Samrajya in Bhosari.
On Monday evening,police had reached the place on being alerted by a relative of Rakeshkumar Hrushikesh Swain that he was threatening to commit suicide. Rakeshkumar was found dead.The woman,Itishree Ramchandra Swain (22),who was found unconscious,also died.
Both were from Orissa.
They had known each other since childhood and were in love,police said.
Police inspector C D Bhosale of Bhosari police station said,We registered a case of accidental death. No offence has been registered yet. Investigation is on. So far,we have come to know they had known each other since childhood. They had been in love since their school days.
Rakeshkumar used work with his father,a civil contractor. Itishree was a teacher with a school in Bhubaneswar, the officer said.
Police said Rakeshkumars family had gone to their native place on March 19 and since then,Itishree had been staying with him at his residence at Jay Ganesh Samrajya.
Police handed over Rakeshkumars body to his family on Tuesday. Family members of Itishree were yet to reach Pune.
Rakeshkumar had reportedly sent an SMS to family members saying he would commit suicide. A family member informed cops and a police team had reached the house in Jay Ganesh Samrajya to discover Itishree unconscious,and the body of Rakeshkumar hanging from the ceiling.
