A section of student unions on Monday met Deputy Director of Education Suman Shinde and urged her to withdraw a complaint filed by her against activists of Yuva Sena,the youth wing of Shiv Sena.
Kiran Sali,along with 15 others,had been booked under Section 353 (Assault or criminal force against government employee) of the Indian Penal Code based on Shindes complaint last Wednesday.
Speaking to Newsline,Shinde,who was ex-officio head of the recently concluded Centralised Admission Process (CAP),said she has not yet arrived at any decision on withdrawing her complaint filed with Deccan Gymkhana police.
Representatives of student unions of Shiv Sena,BJP and MNS among other political parties along with Congress MLC Mohan Joshi held the meeting with Shinde.
During the meeting,the student unions raised issues allgedly faced by students with respect to their allotted college through CAP.
Students unions complained that a few students have been allotted colleges as far as 20 kms from their houses. We have asked unions to submit a detailed list of such students. Future course of action will be decided once we receive the list, said Shinde,adding,students had been allotted colleges as per the preference mentioned in their admission forms.
