Stationary PMPML bus catches fire at Pune’s Swargate depot

A bus of the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) caught fire all of a sudden at the Swargate depot on Saturday morning. No casualties were reported in the incident.

According to the Pune Fire Brigade, the PMPML bus was washed and parked in the premises of the Swargate depot workshop in the morning.

Around 9.40 am, the PMPML staffers at the spot saw fire and smoke emanating from the bus. Soon, the fire brigade was informed. A team of Pune fire brigade led by fire officer Prashant Gaikar rushed to the spot and doused the flames within six minutes.

Meanwhile, by the time the firemen reached the spot, the PMPML staffers used the fire extinguishers at the bus depot to extinguish the flames as a preventive measure.

Fire officials said there was no driver, conductor or passengers in the bus when the incident took place. However, the bus suffered major damages. The cause of the fire could not be ascertained.
