Sriram,Godse clinch under-12 titles

Sriram,outplayed Yashraj Dalvi,who knocked out four seeded players over the course of the tournament.

Fifth seeded Aditya Sriram and second seeded Divija Godse annexed the boys and girls’ titles,respectively,at the AITA Futurepro Tennis Academy Talent Series (under-12) tournament 2013 played at the Divisional Sports Complex,Yerawada.

Sriram,11,outplayed Yashraj Dalvi,who knocked out four seeded players over the course of the tournament. The unseeded Dalvi,an MIT School student,came in second best after a hard-fought 100-minute battle.

Sriram,a sixth grader at Delhi Public School,posted a 6-2,3-6,6-3 victory for his maiden under-12 title. He is a student of the Futurepro Tennis Academy and is trained under the guidance of Radhika Tulpule-Kanitkar.

The girls’ final had Pune girl and second seed Divija Godse battle for two hours before laying her hands on the title at the expense of fifth seeded Gargi Pawar.

Coached by Nandan Bal at the Fergusson College courts,the sixth grader from Symbiosis School rallied from a set down to annex the title. After losing 2-6 in the first set,Godse won the next two sets 6-2,7-5 to claim her first title of the year.
