The Bhosari police arrested a local “worker” of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) party Jyotsna Prashant Khandagale (36),following video camera footage allegedly showing her demanding a ransom of Rs 30 lakh from the authorities of Priyadarshini Group of Schools, run by Hardesingh Baba Education Society in Bhosari. Rajendra Singh (32),the CEO of Hardevsingh Baba Education Society, has lodged a complaint with the Bhosari police station. The police said Khandagale was blackmailing Singh saying she was going to launch an agitation against the school and defame its authorities for taking huge fees and donation from the students. She demanded a ransom of Rs 30 lakh from Singh to settle the matter. The police said in May last week,Khandagale, along with a few men,had ransacked the office of Sandhya Dhole, principal of Priyadarshini School at Bhosari. A non-cognisable offence was registered against Khandagale.

The complainant Singh said,“Khandagale claimed that she was an MNS worker. She had also filed some complaints against our school with the ZP. In June, she called my brother Narendra Singh, the administrative officer of Hardesingh Baba Education Society and demanded Rs 25 lakh. She threatened to launch an agitation against the school if her demand was not met.”

Singh said,“Narendra called her at the school. Accordingly, she came to the school with a woman around 11 am on June 15,but did not ask for money. She said that she would come again on June 16. So we installed spy cameras in our cabins to record her interaction. Khandagale came to the school around 4 pm on June 16 and demanded Rs 30 lakh. She said her demand has increased and then left the place saying that she would be coming back after a few days. All this was captured by the video cameras. “We contacted MNS leaders said she was not a worker. Meanwhile,Khandagale again called us on phone for money. So we lodged a police complaint. We have given the video camera footage to the police,” Singh added. PSI Koli arrested Khandagale on Thursday evening. MNS Pimpri unit chief Manoj Salunke said Khandagale was not their party worker.

Khandagale was remanded to police custody till July 27 by Pimpri court.
