Fashion is about India and India is about spirituality, said designer Sanjana Jon at a lecture series titled Towards Light, organised by the Dyaneshwar Mulay Educational Foundation.
The event was held at SM Joshi Memorial Hall,Navi Peth,on Saturday. Jon explored the relation between youth and fashion with references to her own experiences in the fashion industry and her travels across the world. To avoid making fashion blunders, one must keep two things in mind comfort and confidence to carry off what you want to wear, and the sensibilities of the place you are in, she said.
Jon was accompanied by a panel of experts from the industry including Manju Hundekar,Principal of School of Fashion Technology,Pune; Leena Taparia,Founder Member and HoD of Fashion Design Department at JRVGTI; Preeti Bane, faculty,FAD International; and Shital Nitin,Head (Academics),iNIFD. A video conference was also arranged with Dnyaneshwar Mulay,Consul General of India,New York. Jon also revealed her plans of starting a campaign to build solar power houses in villages across India to provide electricity and facilitate children to learn how to use the Internet and modern technology. It is a long-term goal, but we will start soon, said Jon.
