Deccan XI B record big win
Deccan XI B and Pune Police notched up big wins in their super division league matches at the Pune Football Tournament organised by Pune District Football Association (PDFA) at the Dobarwadi grounds in Hadapsar. Deccan XI B thrashed Pune Social 5-0 with Pranav Deshpande striking twice for the winners with Siddharth Salunke,Kapil Patwardhan and Narendra Mane scoring a goal apiece. Pune Police marched over Jolly Range Hills 4-1. Shrikant Chavan opened the scoring for Pune Police. Gorakh Patil scored a brace while Nishant Ranaware added a goal late on. City Club played a goal-less draw against AIYFA Sky Hawks and Kirkeeans drew 2-2 with Ghorpadi Tamil United in the other two matches played on Saturday.
PYC A to battle it out with Deccan Gymkhana A
Holders PYC A will clash with Deccan Gymkhana A in the finals of the second edition of the Shashi Vaidya Memorial Inter-club tennis championship organised by PYC Hindu Gymkhana under the auspices of the PMDTA and MSLTA at the PYC Gymkhana tennis courts. In the semi-finals played Saturday,Deccan (A) Chargers put out PYC (B) Tigers 40-14 ,while PYC (A) Lions outplayed Deccan(C) Peshwas 39-15. It will be the second consecutive year that both teams will clash for supremacy in the tournament. The final will be played Sunday.
Fiserv,I-Gate enter semis
Fiserv registered a 66-run win over Zensar in the quarterfinals of the Inter-IT T20 tournament at Shinde High School ground. Batting first,Fiserv scored 142/9. Rakesh Walmiki starred with the bat for Fiserv as he scored 56 off 42 balls. Ganesh Ambre gave Walmiki company compiling a deft 24.
Abhinav Agwan was the most successful bowler for Zensar as he snapped up three wickets for 22. In reply,Zensar were shot out for 76 in 15 overs. Manoj Kumar bowled a destructive spell,picking up four wickets for just 14 runs. In the second quarterfinal,I-Gate registered a 38-run victory over Barclays. I-Gate batting first scored 139/7 with Ankit Dubey remaining unbeaten on 36. Barclays could only muster 101. Arun Baktavathlam was the top-scorer with 43. Mayur Birajdar was the star with the ball for I-Gate as he picked up four wickets for just 10 runs.
