Height of adventure
The National Education Foundation (NEF) is organising a one-day trek to Fort Kothaligad,situated to the east of Karjat. Located at a height of 1500 ft,the fort is an easy climb for beginners. The trek will include transportation and also breakfast,lunch and tea. The fort has temple carvings dating back to 13th century A.D. and has its own place in history. It was captured by the British from the Marathas and then recaptured from them in the 18th century. The trek will commence on September 13 and the registration fees for the same is Rs 500 per person. Lovers of rock music have another reason to rejoice as a series of rock concerts are being held in cities across the nation. Titled Independence Rock 24,the first of them will start in Kolkata and then proceed to Delhi,Pune,Bangalore and Mumbai. The event,spread over 25 days,will see close to 40 bands performing in five concerts. The grand finale of the event will be held on October 3 and 4 at the Chitrakoot Grounds in Mumbai and will feature winning bands from each city finale.
