It’s my turn
While it is said that without the right contacts, getting into the Hindi film industry is nearly impossible the newly launched website Abmeribaari.com aims to break this very stereotype about Bollywood. The website, which was launched by noted film writer and director Madhur Bhandarkar at the Ishanya Mall on Saturday, aims to let people showcase their talents. Speaking about it Bhandarkar says,“I am pleased to be a part of this online platform. This is a new concept that will help people display their creativity here.” The online portal lets users upload a video clip of their audition from their homes. The brainchild of Preet Bedi, the managing director of AMB Media, which hosts the website, the portal will allow users to audition for three different categories namely those of singing, dancing and acting and will be judged by Anu Malik,Saroj Khan and Madhur Bhandarkar respectivley. Speaking about his upcoming projects Bhandarkar also says,“I am looking forward to the launch of my film Heroine, which will be on the life of a Bollywood actress and also I will be diverging from my serious genre of film making and will be making a comedy called Dil Toh Baccha Hain Ji.”

Sweet openings
And with the film garnering a lot of hype prior to its release it was but obvious that the premier of the Marathi film- Haapus was a star studded affair. The premier, which was held on Friday at City Pride in Kothrud, saw the entire star cast of the film descend on the city at the venue. The film tells the story of a rural Maharashtrian family that showcases a conflict of ideas between a strict father,a rebellious daughter and a son who has contrasting ideas against his father, about entering the mango market, with the world famous Konkan Haapus mangoes. The premiere saw Shivaji Satam,Makarand Anaspure,Subodh Bhave and Madhura Velankar attend it. Speaking more about it Shivaji Satam says,“It is the effort of the team and I am confident in saying that the director has done a professional job.” Actor Makrand Anaspure adds,“Good days have begun for Marathi Cinema, with this film and the director is a great find for the industry.”
