AN FTII Diploma film Narmeen which is directed by Dipti Gogna was honoured with The Best Short Film Award at Bollywood and Beyond at the Indian Film Festival at Stuttgart in Germany. Narmeen is a short story about loss of identity,of humanity,of association,of memories and of attachment in the trying times of partition. Narmeen was among the first five films to be selected for screening during the 7th Third Eye Asian Film Festival that was held at Mumbai last year. Narmeen has also won an award at the 7th Pune International Film Festival.
On a mission
ResQ,a charitable organisation that works towards rescue and adoption of stray dogs has organised a charity sale at the E-Square Multiplex from July 30 till August 2. The sale will be held on Level 1 of the multiplex; people can buy branded clothes and shoes,semi-precious jewellery,elegant hand-bags,along with utility and electronic household items,books and CDs at a nominal cost here. The proceeds from the sale will go towards funding the on-site first-aid programs and also conducting education awareness programmes in schools and colleges.
Come Friday,July 31 and fashion mongers of the city will have a chance to interact with fashion designer Preeti Jhawar and also get a chance to view her new collection at the Rudraksh Store in Aundh. Preeti will be available for interaction between 4 and 9 pm. The interaction has been held so that Jhawar can showcase a host of Indian handicrafts and techniques and because we wish to host her latest collection of shalwar kurtas.

THOUGH there are people who are against homosexuals as well as those who fight for their rights,across most of the world,homosexuality is considered as normal. Keeping this perspective in mind,Swantantra Theatre is coming up with a new concept on Friendship Day called Zamana Badal Gaya Hai. The play will be screened on August 2 at Sri Mahavir Jain Vidyalaya,next to BMCC. Dhanashree Heblikar and Aseem Dubey have come up with this concept and the play has been directed by Abhijeet Chaudhari. It is a comedy play,which deals with feelings of people who are homosexual and the problems faced by them. Zamana Badal Gaya Hai is a comedy play with punches that will make audience laugh as well as make them aware of the condition of homosexuals.
