Seven members of Bapu Nayar gang arrested

The crime branch of Pune police has arrested seven members of the Bapu Nayar gang while they were carrying out a dacoity at a petrol pump in Thergaon on Thursday evening.

The crime branch of Pune police has arrested seven members of the Bapu Nayar gang while they were carrying out a dacoity at a petrol pump in Thergaon on Thursday evening.

The police have seized a revolver,four cartridges,two sickles,chilly powder,nylon rope,iron pipe,stick tape,10 mobile phones,Rs 13,520 cash and two cars,all worth Rs 4.6 lakh,from the gangsters.

The arrested have been identified as Vinod Bhimrao Bansode (22),Dattatraya Anand Pawar (31),Nilesh Shrinivas Baswant (21),Hanumant Kisan Bangude (30),all residents of Upper Indira Nagar in Bibwewadi,Nandakumar Kshirsagar of Dandekar bridge slum,Alon Ashok Gawli (24) of Pashan and Riyaz Shaikh (35) of Budhwar Peth.

Acting on a tip-off,a team of anti extortion cell of the Pune police crime branch — comprising assistant inspector Krantikumar Patil,naik Pradeep Jambhale,Pandurang Wanjale,havaldar Balasaheb Jarad,Vilas Gujar,Kashinath Jagtap,Mahadev Dimble,Anil Shinde,Pravin Shirke,Arvind Mhaske,Kashinath Ubhe and Ganesh Mali — nabbed the gangsters near Pandit petrol pump.

A complaint in this case has been registered at the Hinjewadi police station.

Inspector Kishor Jadhav of anti extortion cell said that the gang leader Nayar is absconding.

The Nayar gang is involved in serous crime like murder,attempt to murder,extortion,arms act and rioting,Jadhav said.

According to Jadhav,Bansode,Kshirsagar,Paware,Baswant,Gawli and Bamgude are history sheeters. The gang was active in Dhankawdi and Bibwewadi area and were extorting money from stall owners in these areas.
