A eleven-year-old girl studying in class V was allegedly raped and murdered by an unidentified person at Mauje Khutgaon village in Daund taluka in Pune on Thursday afternoon. The victims father has lodged a complaint at the Yevat police station. The police said the incident took place when the girl was returning home after her school.
The police have launched search against the alleged rapist. An offence has been registered under section 302 (murder),376 (rape) of IPC and section 4,6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
Assistant police inspector S B Chavan is investigating the case. The probe so far has revealed that the girl was studying in a local school. Her father used to drop her to school every morning. He used to pick her up after the school was over in the afternoon.
However,due to some work,the father could not go to her school on Thursday afternoon. So the girl was walking back home,when some unidentified person dragged her to a sugarcane farm. The girl was allegedly raped in this farm and then strangulated.
The police said her gold ear rings were missing. It is suspected that rapist robbed her before fleeing. The incident came to light after a villager passing by saw her dead body and informed the police.
