Sangamnerkar brothers combine to save Bishop’s School

Riddhant and Sanath score in 3-3 draw against St Vincent’s.

St. Vincent’s High School escaped meeting hosts The Bishop’s School,Camp,in the semifinals when they drew with The Bishop’s School,Undri,in their last league match of the Bishop’s-Southern Command Inter-School Invitational football tournament at the Jeejeebhoy Ground on Friday.

A 3-3 draw for St. Vincent’s and Bishop’s,Undri meant that Vincent’s finished at the top of pool A,thanks to better goal difference even though both the teams finished on 4 points from three encounters.

Hrishikesh Chavan again starred for St. Vincent’s as he posted another hat-trick,scoring in the 24th,27th and 35th minutes after Bishop’s,Undri had taken early lead through Farhan Shaikh’s eighth minute goal.

Riddhant Sangamnerkar scored in the 28th minute to equalise at 2-2,but Chavan’s 35th minute goal again gave Vincent’s the advantage. It was Sanath Sangamnerkar’s 45th minute goal that restored parity and ensured the match ended with both sides splitting points.


St. Vincent’s will meet Army Public School in the first semifinal on Saturday. Meanwhile,Army Public School was held to a 2-2 draw by Bishop’s,Camp as both the schools booked their berths in the semifinals.

Ishan Rotelu (29th) and France Moris (39th) scored for Bishop’s,Camp,while Army Public School saw Ishant Sharma (seventh) and Nirmal Chetri (30th) giving their team the lead before parity was established.

In an inconsequential league match,The Bishop’s School,Kalyaninagar defeated Rewachand Bhojwani Academy 5-0 with Yash Karande (fourth and ninth minute) scoring a brace.

Sayyam Kathuria (fifth),Samuel Tyron (second) and Ayush Kanitkar (48th) were the other scorers.
