The crime Branch of Pune city police has arrested a person working as an agent at the Regional Transport Office (RTO), who was allegedly providing and submitting fake documents including fitness certificates, insurance policies, voting cards, electricity bills and PAN cards.

The police have identified the suspect as Tamsin Haider Sayyad, a resident of Ganj Peth. A team of Crime Branch officers led by Inspector Satish Nikam nabbed Tamsin on suspicion. He is working as an RTO agent for the last seven years.

The police recovered four fake vehicle insurance policies from his possession. They also found a pendrive that carried 96 fake fitness certificates, 198 fake vehicle insurance policies of eight prominent insurance companies, 211 fake electricity bills and 28 fake election voting cards.

The RTO confirmed that these documents were fake.

Dilip Shamrao Sontakke (23), an RTO staffer working in vehicle fitness certificate department had lodged a complaint at the Bundgarden police station.

The police accordingly arrested Tamsin under Sections 420, 464, 465, 466, 467 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) Wednesday night.

The police are hoping to get more information about submission of bogus documents from the suspect.

The police said that RTO provides fitness certificate only after checking the condition of the vehicles properly but the suspect has provided bogus fitness certificates for two buses, two tempos and an autorickshaw. Similarly, he had provided fake vehicle insurance policies to some vehicle owners.
