Rs 11 lakh stolen from Pune’s Chikhali ATM, gas cutters used to open machine

According to police, the Axis Bank ATM centre in Nevale Vasti in Chikhali was filled with cash on Friday.

UNIDENTIFIED PERSONS allegedly broke into an ATM of Axis Bank in Chikhali and stole Rs 11 lakh. Police said the incident came to light on Monday afternoon and an offence was lodged. The Crime Branch of Pimpri-Chinchwad Police is investigating the case.

According to police, the Axis Bank ATM centre in Nevale Vasti in Chikhali was filled with cash on Friday.

However, police said, on Monday afternoon, bank employees found out that gas cutters had been used to break open the machine and Rs 11 lakh had been stolen.

Last week, police arrested two persons for allegedly trying to steal cash from an ATM machine in Mhalunge area.

Earlier this month, an attempt to break open an ATM was reported from Nigdi Pradhikaran.
