Robbers point gun at builder’s son,flee with cash,valuables worth lakhs

A gang of four unidentified men barged into the house of a builder-cum-jeweller in Hadapsar and robbed valuables worth Rs 16. 41 lakh by pointing a gun at his school going son on Tuesday.

A gang of four unidentified men barged into the house of a builder-cum-jeweller in Hadapsar and robbed valuables worth Rs 16. 41 lakh by pointing a gun at his school going son on

Tuesday.

The builder,Prasad Manikrao Hawaldar (40),a resident of Mahadev Nagar in Manjari,lodged an offence at Hadapsar police station.Police have charged the suspects under Sections 392,452,342,34 of the Indian Penal Code and relevant Sections of the Arms Act.

Police said Hawaldar’s wife and mother operate Jayshree Jewellers near their residence. Everyday around 6 am a schoolbus arrives to pick up his son to school.

As a regular practice,the bus driver gives a horn intimating about the arrival of the bus and moves ahead to pick up other students staying nearby. In the meantime,Hawaldar opens the lock on the metallic grill door of his house and waits for his son to come out.

But on Tuesday when his son did not come out,he went inside to look for him. All of a sudden,he heard his mother shout for help and he rushed to her bed room. He saw four armed men,one of them pointing a gun at his son’s head.

The suspects snatched ornaments from Hawaldar,his mother,wife and neice. The robbers also robbed Rs 4 lakh in cash and 20 kgs of silver ornaments from the jewellery shop and fled. Police sub-inspector P M Lonare is investigating the case.
