The Kirloskar Vasundhara Film Festival and non-profit organisation,Jalbiradari,organised the Maharashtra Nadi Panchayat at the Balgandharva Kaladalan on February 24. The event was attended by nature lovers from across the city. It traced the importance of rivers in the state. A research paper was brought out as a people’s directive to the state government for the coming year’s action plans about rivers in urban and rural Maharashtra. A National Nadi Panchayat will be organised in the long run to convey people’s river action plan to the central government. Regional Nadi Panchayats will also be held after every two months in the state.
To take a stand against rising air pollution and to avoid vehicle emissions for a single day,a cycle rally has been organised by the Center for Youth Development and Activities and Youth4Change. The slogan by the youngsters associated with the organisation is: ‘Be a Cycle Enthusiast and Stop Air Pollution.’ The rally will begin from the Pune Municipal Corporation at 10 am on February 28. A planning meet for the same will be held today.
