25,000 new properties in Pimpri-Chinchwad in last year; officials flag need to ensure drinking water, sustainable development

The industrial city of Pimpri-Chinchwad has added over 25,000 new properties in its jurisdiction in the last year, signalling its rapid expansion, said officials, adding that there is a need to ensure sustainable development and drinking water availability.

According to the figures released by the PCMC property tax department, by May 31, the total number of properties registered in Pimpri-Chinchwad reached 6,02,203. “As many as 25,637 new properties were added in the last fiscal (2022-23). Before that, in 2021-22, 28,865 properties were added,” said officials. In the last two months of this fiscal, 4,974 new properties have been registered.

“These figures include properties newly constructed and registered and those the tax department had found not assessed for tax in the past. We have now started their assessment for tax. In 2021-22, many unregistered properties were registered and assessed for tax. Therefore, the figures in 2021-22 were higher,” officials said.
