Barely two years after it was set up,Suvarna Urja Windpower Pvt Ltd,a Bhosari-based small-scale industrial firm,has bagged the gold medal in the ‘India,innovation growth programme,’ conducted by Lockheed Martin Corporation along with FICCI and Department of Science and Technology,Government of India. Out of the 280 participants from across the globe,Suvarna Urja Power Pvt Ltd cleared various stages of the competition to get the award.
“This is a big achievement for Suvarna Group. Our objective of serving the society and the nation has been duly rewarded,” said P I Varghese,chairman and managing director of Suvarna. Suvarna Urja works in the field of renewable energy sources. Suvarna Urja focuses on implementation of windsolar based solutions,thereby playing a role which will help conservation of energy and sustainable development. “As part of this,we have designed three models of Micro-Wind Turbines Sup-6 (450W),Sup-10 (1KW),Sup-20 (3.5KW) which are used for harnessing winding energy and converting it into electrical energy. This is used for electrification of standalone houss,rural villages,back-up systems for residential units in urban areas and other applications,” he said. Varghese said they have completed projects at various places,such as Tikona at Pavana Nagar,Sartex at Hinjewadi and Suvarna Fibrotect at Chakan. “We have also completed a wind farming project for SAB Technical Services,Jamnagar in Gujarat having a generation capacity of 21KW. We are expecting projects of Rs 15 crore in this financial year,” he said.
