Pune Running’s ‘Beyond Myself’ annual charity walk and run will be held on October 6.

The idea behind this event is to promote long distance running as a sport and a way of life. “The ‘Beyond Myself’ colludes to the overall aim of accomplishing community service with every participant going beyond him/herself to promote a social cause,” said Nikhil Shah,one of the founders of Pune Running.

Run Beyond Myself has long distance running categories such as the 21.1 km half marathon,a 15 km run,10 km run and a 5 km run.

The half marathon along with the 15 km and 10 km runs will be timed with RF-ID technology which will give participants the feel of a real marathon,as they will have timing chips in their shoes. The chips will provide accurate timings. The event will be flagged off from BMCC college ground and move towards University road,Pashan road and finally back to the ground.

Registration forms are available on the website Early bird registration discounts can be availed until September 8. Runners can also register their friends and family in any category of their choice.

The proceeds from the event will go to KEM Hospital for the benefit of under-privileged children. KEM intends to use the funds to build and improve its neo-natal care unit.

Individuals who wish to donate any amount to KEM separately can issue a cheque in the name of “MI Sports and Social Foundation”.
