The Raaz team on the making of Raaz The Mystery Continues
Its music was an instant hit as it has been for most of Emraan Hashmi films. However this time the film too seems to be certified as a smash hit of this year. Celebrating the success of Raaz-The Mystery Continues, the film’s director Mohit Suri and actor Emraan Hashmi were recently in town at Inox.
Claiming it to be one of the most expensive horror films, the duo discussed the various aspects of the film amidst an excited crowd. “It has been the decision of the producers to create and develop the brand Raaz. If my script was not impressive enough I wouldn’t have been a part of it. Raaz will bring out the supernatural elements that are very predominant in the Indian culture rather than making something based on the Western culture,” says Mohit Suri.
With another film lined up for release,Hashmi whose four long years in the industry has taught him not to rush into things says,”I was doing five films at a time, once upon a time. It’s been eighteen films in the last four years. However now I have reduced on work because it became a very mechanical process. Also I would like to explore diverse genres, interesting scripts and do something that appeals to my sensibilities as well as the audiences.”
Suri claims that Raaz – The Mystrey Continues is different from the other horror films as he explains,”We didn’t want to make it too scary. Horror has been seen as a risky genre to take up but I was dying to direct a film like this. Secondly, this is backed by great music and I have tried to keep the concept very Indian, with incidents and paranormal experiences that we have heard for years.”
Hashmi who plays the brooding artist in the film says,”The paintings are not very elaborate and have been shown in a couple of scenes so I did not have to deal in depth. Mohit and I started our careers together and working with him has always been fabulous be it for any character.” To this Suri adds the rhetoric,”What more do you want from an actor than his readiness to portray any kind of role!” We say acting skills may be.
