Purandar airport: Work on Ring Road of MSRDC started, land acquisition for PMRDA ring road gains momentum
The villagers are being told not to sell their land to middlemen or someone else other than the government as they will get maximum compensation from the government as per the Land Acquisition Act.
Several major airlines have cancelled flights in the wake of Operation Sindoor (Representational Image) With a target of completing land acquisition within six months for the proposed international airport, the Pune district administration has started holding discussions with the residents and farmers of seven villages in Purandar taluka. It has completed 90 per cent of land acquisition of the proposed Ring Road being developed by Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) and started the process for acquiring land for another Ring Road to be developed by Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA).
“The land acquisition process for the international airport at Purandar has been started as per the directions of the state government. We will be completing it in the next six months by October end,” said Pune Collector Jitendra Dudi.
The process for the land acquisition has started with discussions with the villagers and farmers that are going to be affected, he said, “Discussion with detailed information on land to be acquired and compensation to the affected people is being done. The interaction in four villages has been done so far and will be continued in remaining villages as the land of seven villages will be acquired for the project.”

The notification for land acquisition has been issued by Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and the fund for joint land measurement has been paid to district collectorate for the purpose, Dudi said.
Ring Road work to speed up
The work on Ring Road to be developed by MSRDC has been started in some places, said the district collector.
“Ninety per cent of the land required for the Ring Road of MSRDC has been acquired. The condition of acquiring minimum 90 per cent land for any project before starting it has been fulfilled. So, work has been started in some places. We want to complete the project in two-and-a-half years,” he said.
The land acquisition for Ring Road to be developed by PMRDA was started in March this year and will be completed in three months. The work on the project would begin soon after that, Dudi said.
