Nigdi police have arrested a 20-year-old man for allegedly stealing gold worth Rs 10 lakh from his uncle’s house when the latter went on a pilgrimage to Pandharpur after handing over the keys to his nephew.
Police have identified the accused as Kiran Yadav. Three of his friends have also been arrested for being part of the theft. His uncle, Jayawant Yadav, had registered a complaint soon after he returned from the pilgrimage and found that 410 gms of gold was missing from his house.
After primary investigation, police recovered 180 gms of gold. After interrogating the arrested suspects, they seized another 150 gms of gold. Police are still on the lookout for the remaining gold.
Yadav and his friends—Krushna Kale, Ganesh Atnurkar and Shamshuddin Shaikh, all residents of Kudalwadi Chikhli—were produced before a magisterial judge and have been sent to police custody till Friday.
