A case has been registered against two officials of the land records department of the state government for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 50 lakh from a businessman residing in Pune.
The 41-year-old businessman lodged an FIR in this connection at Yerwada police station on Friday.
As per the FIR, police have booked deputy superintendent Amatsinh Patil and surveyor Kiran Yetale of land records department, Haveli, Pune, under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Section 308 (2), 198, 201 and sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
As per the FIR, the complainant owns a land in Hadapsar area. He had paid the essential fees at the land records department, Haveli, for measuring his land in 2023.
But to confirm the boundaries of his land, the two accused persons allegedly demanded Rs 50 lakh from the complainant in June 2024. It is alleged that after negotiations, the accused persons settled for Rs 25 lakh for demarcation of the land boundaries.
But they allegedly threatened to give a “helicopter shot” to the complainant, if the bribe money was not paid, the FIR stated.
However, the complainant did not pay the money. So, the accused allegedly created false records of the adjoining lands, causing a loss to the complainant, the FIR stated.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Machhindra Khade of the Economic Offences Wing of the Pune city police crime branch is investigating the case.
