A SCHOOL van caught fire while passing through Patwardhanbag area around 11.30 am on Thursday.
Altogether 10 students were on board along with the driver when the incident took place. Driver Jadgdish Kharkude, immediately vacated the vehicle and moved the students away safely. Nobody was injured.
Meanwhile, a fire brigade team rushed to the spot and extinguished the flames.
According to the fire brigade, the van was badly burnt.
The driver was dropping the students home from a local school when it caught fire all of a sudden. The reason behind the fire was not confirmed.
A fire brigade official said it was a CNG-operated van.
