Pune regional transport officer (RTO) Arun Yeola has been transferred to Mumbai. He would be joining the office of State Transport Commissioner in Mumbai. Deputy RTO Ajit Shinde would be handing his charge till a new RTO is appointed for Pune.

Yeola had joined the Pune RTO office in April 2011. He was recently in news after it was revealed that a driving licence and autorickshaw permit were issued in the name of Chief Minister Prithviraj Chauhan.

An inquiry was initiated and a few RTO staffers were suspended.

Meanwhile,an application under the Right to Information Act (RTI) filed by The Indian Express had revealed that the documents of a Pakistani national who got driving licence from the Pune RTO in August 2011 have gone missing.

Even though the regional transport officer has been transferred now,no action has been taken yet against anyone responsible for the mismanagement due to which the documents submitted by the Pakistani national have gone missing.

The Pune police have booked the same Pakistani national identified as Mahesh Tekwani of Karachi, for alleged violation of the Foreigners Act.
