Pune Navale Bridge road accident: ‘Deep gash on forehead, barely remember what hit me’

At least ten persons sought treatment at Navale hospital while another four injured in the accident were treated at Sassoon general hospital.

Satish Waghmare, 36, was driving his firm’s car from Saswad to Hinjewadi when a vehicle hit him from behind. ”I got a deep gash on my forehead and could hardly figure out what hit me,”Waghmare told The Indian Express.
He briefly recalled some people trying to pull him out of the car and take him to the hospital.

”I was treated at Navale hospital and fortunately my forehead injury was not severe. However, the company car is damaged,”he said.

Ramzuddin Sayyad, nephew of another injured victim, Amjad Sayyad, said he was shifting his uncle to a hospital in Chinchwad where they stay. Amjad has a fracture which needs surgery, Ramzuddin said.

Dr Arvind Khore, medical director at Navale hospital said that injuries ranged from trauma to the ear, ankle and foot and blunt injuries to the chest and abdomen.

The patients brought in to Navale Hospital were four year Ashner Burhan, 7 year old Aftaz Burhan, 11 year old Zayara Sayyad, 14 year old Ibrahim Burhan, 20 year old Sachel Sayyad, 33 year old Zulekha Sayyad, 42 year old Ibrahim Hussain, 79 year old Shyam Pate and 71 year old Shailaja Pate and 35 year old Satish Waghmare.

At Sassoon general hospital Dr Yellappa Jadhav said that among the injured was a nine year old child. One person was treated in the OPD.’All the injured persons are stable, “Dr Jadhav said.

According to the team at Maharashtra Emergency Medical Services-108 ambulance service they received a call for a grievous accident at Navale Bridge, Pune at 5:38 pm at the Control Room.

After understanding the situation, a total of 3 ambulances were dispatched immediately at the incident location,officials said.

Patients were trapped inside the car and rescue operations continued for a while to save the victims.

108 Ambulances were on standby till the entire rescue operation was completed.

A total of eight patients were rescued, according to the 108 team.
