REPEATEDLY facing criticism from the NCP in the civic general body of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), BJP corporators on Monday grabbed the opportunity to corner the NCP over the recent statement of the Rajya Sabha MP and city NCP chief Vandana Chavan that garbage piled up in parts of city has turned the city into a dumping ground in the last few years.

Raising the issue in the general body meeting, BJP corporators protested against Chavan for her statement on the situation of the city. “The NCP is in power in PMC for last 10 years. Its city unit chief is criticising the failure of civic administration which speaks of the inefficiency of the ruling party,” they said.
The BJP corporators raised slogans against Chavan saying she was bringing bad name to the city by criticising its situation. The BJP was joined by Congress, MNS and Shiv Sena in criticising Chavan over her statement.
Senior NCP leader and sitting corporator Subhash Jagtap also joined the opposition in criticising Chavan. “The MP should focus on the village adopted by her under Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana. How many times has she visited the village?” he asked. Later, the opposition approved a resolution of adjourning the meeting condemning Chavan for her statement.
